Edges. To begin the project, Celeste and Charlotte met at the Grinnell College sign at the corner of East Street and 6th Avenue, where they did a timed improvisation on the word “edges”. The next task was to separately edit that improvisation material so each artist would have their own capture of the improvisation. May 25 2017.

Women at Water’s Edge/Mujeres al Filo del Agua: Oracle Response. Process: when in residence at Grinnell College, WAWE artists created solos. After the residency, I recorded an improvisation to Miroslava’s solo; then used iMovie’s editing and cutaway tool to layer an edited version of my improvisation with Miroslava’s composition – as a possible way to create a duet. Danced by Miroslava Wilson during the Grinnell College WAWE Residency (July 1-5 2017); dance response and video editing by Celeste Miller on August 1 2017.

Online Dancing /Reading
Michael Richter organized a group of twelve dancer/choreographers to meet monthly, using GoToMeeting. Members read a book, like a book club format, between sessions. Then the monthly session is led by a rotating facilitator who leads the group in improvisational activities based on the reading.
